Our Advocacy, Sustainment, Supporting Independence and Safeguarding Team (ASSIST) help residents to live independently in their own homes.
The service can be used by anyone, although it is particularly useful for people who may feel vulnerable due to ill health, age, disability or isolation.
It contains four main areas of support:
- The Response Service - a 24 hour emergency response service.
- The Response and Support Service - planned home visits, Lifeline 24 hour monitoring service, homeless advice and support and handyperson service.
- The Enhanced Support Service - help with housekeeping, escort to appointments and help with reading and companionship.
- The Handyperson Service - help with any small repairs you need doing in your home.
Some of the support services may involve a small cost, but this will be assessed on an individual basis and you may be eligible for financial support.

ASSIST Early Medical Discharge Scheme
Our ASSIST team works in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council social care workers and clinical staff on the wards of Kings Mill Hospital in Sutton in Ashfield. Together as one team we help to identify patients that are remaining in hospital care as they do not have suitable accommodation to go to.
Assessments are carried out quickly and recommendations are made directly to our ASSIST officers regarding adaptations and additional care needs are managed by the county council.
Along with co-ordinating adaptations, the ASSIST team can provide temporary accommodation in specialist respite units in the district.
