Temporary Event Notice

If you want to hold an event you must give us a Temporary Event Notice (TEN).

What is a Temporary Event Notice?

The Temporary Event Notice (TEN) can cover the sale of alcohol, regulated entertainment and/or late night refreshment.

You can either apply for a standard TEN or a late TEN depending on when the event is to be held.

Eligibility criteria

You must submit a standard TEN at least 10 clear working days before the day of the event, or five clear working days for a late TEN.

Please note: 10 full working days does not include either the day the notice is given, or the day of the event.

A working day is any day other than a Saturday, a Sunday, Christmas Day, Good Friday or a day which is a bank holiday.

Who can apply

A TEN may only be given by an individual and not by an organisation, club or business. The individual giving the notice is the proposed premises user.

For businesses, clubs or organisations, one individual will need to be identified as the proposed premises user.

You must be at least 18 years old and you can give a maximum of five standard TENs per calendar year. If you are a Personal Licence Holder, you can give a maximum of 50 TENs per calendar year.

You can submit two late TENs per year. Personal Licence Holders can submit 10.

A late TEN counts towards the overall total number of TENs you can give in a year.
