Funding the Future of Mansfield

Mansfield Connect

In January 2023, Mansfield District Council was successful in its bid to the Government’s Levelling Up Fund under Round 2 and was one of only four projects in Nottinghamshire to be awarded the money. This funding can be spent on ring-fenced regeneration projects, designed to level up towns and cities across the country.

The Fund is targeted towards places with the most significant needs in terms of economic recovery, regeneration and growth and improved transport and connectivity. Mansfield has been ranked at level one out of three by the Government, putting it amongst those areas with greatest needs.

The £20m award will see the former Beales building revitalised into a multi-agency and community hub – Mansfield Connect.

The Mansfield Connect project forms a key part of the council’s ambitious and long term town centre regeneration plans. The landmark building is set be part-demolished and part-modernised and extended to provide a new headquarters for the council alongside its valued partners from the public, educational, community, health and wellbeing services, alongside spaces for private sector investment. The partners include the NHS, DWP, Nottinghamshire County Council, Vision West Nottinghamshire College and Mansfield CVS. The project is being led and facilitated by the council.

As well as public sector provision in the building, there will also be the opportunity to offer private sector space, available for investment and business growth.

Mansfield Connect will improve the co-ordination and delivery of public services, generate extra footfall in the town centre and act as a catalyst for wider development, stimulating both the day and night time economy in the town centre.
