The Housing Repairs Service team cover many construction and maintenance aspects of domestic, and some commercial, work types. This ranges from repairing a broken pane of glass to renewing internal and external doors, we also cover plumbing, gas, electric, joinery, bricklaying, plastering and painting to name a few. Many of the tasks we do require an individual to have an open mind to get a work task completed and can often crossover between trade skills. We also employ administrative roles such as work schedulers (who organise the delivery of the service efficiently and effectively), work inspectors (who quality check work and assess need) and surveyors within the team based at the Vale Road depot in Mansfield Woodhouse.
The Council’s busy Marketing and Comms team are based in the Civic Centre. The team are responsible for event management, social media accounts and digital marketing. Find out more about creative writing, content creation, digital design, publishing online, email marketing and website editing. The team can offer 1 week and extended work placements to students studying a related subject and wanting some valuable work experience. Subject to the corporate calendar they may also be able to provide event management experience and activities covering corporate communications.
Customer Services – based at the Civic Centre in Mansfield the council’s customer experience team cover all phone calls and emails that come into the council. They also provide and manage a busy reception desk at the Civic with visitors arriving throughout the day. We can offer 1 day placements within this team.
The Fleet team are based at the Hermitage Lane depot in Mansfield and are responsible for the safety and maintenance of the fleet of vehicles owned by the council. The team can offer short and extended work placements to those studying a related subject and requiring some work experience to compliment your studies.
The Economic Development team are based in the Civic Centre in Mansfield and work to improve the economic wellbeing in Mansfield. They work with both businesses and the community and oversee projects and funded schemes to ensure transparency and accountability. The team also attend meetings and events in the district. We can offer short and longer-term placement opportunities to students within Business, Management or Economics who may need a work placement to gain skills and experience.
Are you studying CIPD or a related subject and would like some experience of a busy HR department? The council’s shared service team are responsible for the recruitment and selection, people management, learning and development and payroll for both Mansfield and Ashfield District Councils.
The Corporate Assurance Team is based in the Civic Centre in Mansfield and is a small and very busy team that is responsible for Internal Audit, Corporate Risk Management, Counter Fraud, Procurement and Insurance. The team can offer work placements to students studying a related subject and wanting some valuable work experience.
The Neighbourhood Services team is based at the Hermitage Lane depot in Mansfield and also at the Crematorium and Cemetery. Work placements are offered within the Parks and Public Spaces team which includes the administration function as well as frontline services. Duties are varied from reception duties, customer enquiries, assessing new park facilities, working with Friends Groups, supervising operations / staff, event support and attending meetings.
The Council’s wider Housing department includes the Private Sector Housing team who are responsible for improving housing conditions within the private sector. They work with home owners, tenants and landlords to make sure properties within Mansfield are safe to live in. duties include visits to properties, attending meetings, inspections and working with other agencies.
The Information Governance team at the council sits within the wider Law and Governance team. The small department are responsible for maintaining compliance against the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA), Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), Environmental Information Rights Act 2004 (EIR), and General Data Protection Regulation 2016 (GDPR). The department is headed up by the Data Protection Officer which is a statutory role in the UK and they ensure the council fulfils all of its obligations.
The Waste and Recycling Team at the council are based at the Hermitage Lane depot in Mansfield and are responsible for the emptying of 12,000 bins each day in the district. The wider team includes refuse collectors, administrators, managers and supervisors and manage domestic waste collection, business and trade and our recycling stations.
