Community Social Value Projects
Helping Our Communities Through Council Contracts
At Mansfield District Council we are committed to ensuring that our contracts deliver benefits beyond the services we procure.
As part of our Social Value Programme, we are creating a register of community groups, charities, voluntary organisations and not-for-profit organisations that may benefit from practical support provided by our contractors.
Many of our contracts include commitments from suppliers to give something back to the local community. This could include volunteering, small improvement projects, environmental enhancements or other community initiatives.
By registering your organisation, you will help us identify potential projects that may be suitable for delivery when opportunities arise.
Please note: Registration does not guarantee that a project will be undertaken. Opportunities will depend on contractor availability, contractual commitments, location, timescales and the nature of the work requested.
What Support Could Be Available?
Examples of social value projects may include:
- Decorating or refreshing community buildings
- Minor repairs and maintenance
- Gardening and environmental improvements
- Creation of community spaces
- Painting fences, benches or planters
- Small landscaping projects
- Donations of materials or equipment
- Employee volunteering days
- Skills workshops or educational sessions
- Community clean-up activities
The types of support available will vary depending on the contractors involved and the services they provide.
Who Can Register?
We welcome expressions of interest from organisations within the Mansfield District Council boundaries including:
- Registered charities
- Community groups
- Voluntary organisations
- Community Interest Companies (CICs)
- Sports clubs
- Scouts, Guides and youth organisations
- Schools and educational settings
- Community centres
- Resident associations
- Other not-for-profit organisations

What Happens Next?
Once your application has been received:
- We'll review the information provided.
- Your project will be added to our Social Value Register.
- Where a suitable contractor opportunity arises, we'll assess whether your project is a good match.
- If selected, we'll contact you to discuss the next steps.
We may contact you for additional information before your project is considered.
