Help if you are homeless

Finding yourself with nowhere to live or the risk of being made homeless is both frightening and stressful. Mansfield District Council wants to help you by preventing homelessness from occurring wherever possible so that you can avoid the worry of this difficult situation.

We advise you to make contact with the Housing Solutions Team as early as possible so that we can help you. To do this you can either telephone the team on 01623 463121 or email them. The Advisors there will offer you advice over the phone and if necessary make an appoint with you for further assistance. At this appointment you will work with the advisor to create a plan in order to prevent you becoming Homeless. This plan will include actions that you must take. If you do not manage to retain your current accommodation or are already Homeless the Advisor will work with you to create a plan in order to secure accommodation. It is unlikely that this will be Council accommodation due to its low availability; however, the accommodation will be affordable for your circumstances.

While Mansfield District Council tries to help everybody who approaches with homelessness there aren't enough resources available to provide temporary or emergency accommodation to all people that approach and so we will have to assess whether you are a priority need for this accommodation.

We can offer special help to rough sleepers in the winter if the weather is continually cold. Please contact us for more information.
