In any of our car parks featuring the ParkSmarter service, you can pay for and manage your parking all through an easy-to-use smartphone app.
All you need to do is register your vehicle, find your location and slect your tarriff. If you need to, you can also extend your session by opening the app and paying for more time, all without going back to your car.
With ParkSmarter:
- You no longer need to carry change
- You don't have to visit a parking machine or remember the location code
- You don't need to walk back with a parking ticket - Civil Enforcement Officers check which vehicles are parked with ParkSmarter via their handheld units
Our pay and display machines also take cash, card and contactless payments - just follow the instructions at the machine.
How do I register with ParkSmarter?
To use ParkSmarter, simply download the free app from Google Play or the App store or visit the ParkSmarter website here (opens in a new window)
Once downloaded, you can register your vehicles and save your payment card details securely so that whenever you visit our pay and display car parks, all you have to do is tell the app how long you want to stay for.
When you arrive, open the app and find your location either by allowing location sharing data or by searching for it. Once this is done, simply follow the steps to pay for your session. If you need to extend it, open the app before your session expires and add more time.
After you have paid, you will see a countdown in the app or on the widget that is displayed on your standby screen that tells you how long you have left on your session. Make the most of your parking session by only paying once you have parked your vehicle.
How much does ParkSmarter cost?
There is no charge for registering with ParkSmarter or for downloading and using the app.
When you park your vehicle with ParkSmarter, there is usually a small conveninece surcharge on top of the normal parking tariff charges which apply. This parking charge will be shown to you before you confirm and pay, and will also be shown on your monthly credit/debit card statement.
The optional parking session confirmation messages and reminder texts (alerting you when your session is about to run out), are also charged at an additional rate and will be shown before you confirm and pay.
Please note that ParkSmarter is not a pre-booking app, so when the transaction completes correctly, you will see a countdown in the app or on the widget that is displayed on your standby screen that tells you how long you have left on your session.
VAT receipts
You can get receipts for your parking sessions in the app. Just register your email address under the settings area of the app and set a notification to email your receipt through.
