Mansfield District Council is saddened by the death of Councillor Alan Fell, who passed away on Monday 10 October 2022.

In 2003, Councillor Fell was elected to represent the Eakring Ward and had been a much-respected and active community councillor over the years. He was elected for two terms, staying as the Eakring representative until 2011. 

He was also the Vice Chairman and Chairman of the council and had various roles within the authority, including chairman of the Planning Committee.

During his term of election, Councillor Fell worked hard to ensure his resident's voices were heard. He was also passionate about raising money for local charities, taking part in a cycle endurance race around Forest Town Welfare. As an ex-market trader, Councillor Fell was also passionate about helping traders during his tenure.

Councillor Mick Barton, Group Leader of Mansfield Independents, said: “Alan was Chair at the Council when I was Vice Chair, and we worked very well together, I learnt a lot off him during this time. He was a lovely bloke, and my heartfelt condolences go out to his wife, family and friends; he will be sadly missed."

Executive Mayor Andy Abrahams said: “Alan was a community champion passionate about making his resident's voices heard and was a dedicated ward councillor. I am told he was immensely proud to serve his community and did his utmost to help people. I'm sure the council will sorely miss him.”

His funeral will take place on Tuesday 8 November, at 1.15 pm at Mansfield Crematorium.
