Mansfield Palace Theatre think Out of the Box with new project

Out of the Box

This September, Mansfield Palace Theatre are inviting young people and adults with learning difficulties or development disabilities to join their brand new group, Out of the Box.

The message is simple - come along, discover your creative side and have your voice heard.

Sian Booth, Cultural Services Manager for Mansfield District Council tells us:

“This new and inclusive group will be a safe space where everyone is welcome to be creative and meet like-minded people. It’s less formal than our Youth Theatre (which is also inclusive and open to anyone) and has been specially designed for young people and adults with learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorder or developmental disabilities.”

Out of the Box is a relaxed session for young people and adults where all voices have the space to be heard. Come together with others to explore movement, music and drama and whilst you’re with us you’ll build confidence, develop life skills and make new friends.

The theatre want to welcome beginners and experienced performers to the Leeming Street venue and invite anyone who wants to develop their listening, teamwork and creativity to get involved.

Sian continues:

“We know it’s not easy to try something new. Our experienced team are committed to improving mental health with kindness and respect and we treat everyone as an individual – we’re all equals at Mansfield Palace Theatre and Mansfield Museum.”

The group will meet every Thursday at Mansfield Palace Theatre on Leeming Street with sessions from 6pm to 7pm for ages 11 to 17 and 7.30pm to 8.30pm for ages 18+. It’s £3 per session with bursaries available to those who may need financial support to attend.
