People are being given an opportunity to hear more about ambitious plans to create a Destination Park in Mansfield.

Officers from Mansfield District Council will be on hand to discuss the exciting plans for Berry Hill Park tomorrow (Thursday 17 February) at 12:30pm, by the information boards, near the café in the park.

The Destination Park project team will be looking at the ideas on the information boards and talking in more detail about a masterplan to improve facilities at Berry Hill Park.

The in-person consultation will also give people who do not have access to the internet, a chance to comment on the project directly to an officer.

Outline plans for the much loved green space include new natural play facilities, a dedicated event space and a new building with a multi-functional space, café and toilets.

Cllr Andy Burgin, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Leisure, said: “This is a really important stage in our project plan as it gives local people the chance to provide useful feedback on the proposals and concept for Berry Hill Park.

"Come along and talk to the team and discuss the ideas that we have for making Berry Hill a destination park for future generations to enjoy.”

Local people can also give their feedback in other ways:

- Visit an online gallery (link opens in new window) and leave comments by clicking on the links on each image.

- View an accessible PDF on the council’s website (link opens in new window) and then follow the QR code link or email the architects (link to email app opens in new window).

- Visit the information boards in the park until the end of March and email comments to the architects (link to email app opens in new window).

Any comments during this period of consultation will assist a council bid to the Government's Towns Fund for £2.94m to improve the park.

The aim of a Destination Park is to offer an experience that goes above and beyond what an average park offers.

This would align with a wider council strategy for Growth in the district by drawing in more visitors to the area, which would boost the local economy.
