Mansfield Museum is appealing to the community to bring tree-mendous festive spirit to the town centre attraction.

It is planning to bring back its avenue of Christmas trees to its entrance arcade and is asking community groups to devise a creative contribution to include in the tree festival project.

Cllr Stuart Richardson, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Growth, said: "We'd love businesses, schools, care homes, community groups or groups of creative friends to put their creative thinking caps on and get involved.

"There will be prizes awarded for the most inventive. The trees don't have to be actual trees - they could be made from books or perhaps knitted, or have a theme, such as recycling, behind them."

The trees can be up to 5.5ft tall and up to 2ft broad. They must not contain anything fragile, edible, unsafe or flammable and any lights on them must be battery powered.

The museum will do its best to look after trees but accepts no responsibility for any damage.

They can be delivered to the museum between 10am and 2pm from Wednesday 24 November to Saturday 27 November and will remain in place in the Museum throughout December. They must be taken down and collected between Tuesday 4 January and Friday 7 January.
