Parks are perfect for winter, too

With COVID-19 restrictions still in place, now is the perfect time to explore the Great Outdoors in Mansfield.

The district is blessed with some of the finest parks and open spaces in the country with seven again winning prestigious national Green Flag Awards this year. Mansfield's parks and open spaces were among more than 2,000 sites across the country to collect the award for 2020.

Please use the facilities in our parks in line with the Government guidance that’s in place at the time. In addition, remember, ‘Hands, face, space – keep Mansfield safe!’.

Picking up Green Flag Awards in the district were five parks: Carr Bank, Titchfield and King George V, all in Mansfield, plus Peafield and Yeoman Hill, in Mansfield Woodhouse - and two Local Nature Reserves at Quarry Lane, Mansfield and The Carrs in Warsop.

Sarah Troman, Head of Communities at the council, said: “These awards are testament to the continuing hard work and dedication of our Parks team whose members have continued to make our parks flourish despite the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

“Thanks must also go to our Friends groups who provide a vital support role in maintaining the council's 150 parks and open spaces, all year round. They are always looking for new members so if lockdown has inspired you to get outdoors more, now could the perfect time to volunteer.”

Anyone who would like to get involved as a volunteer at any of Mansfield's parks and green spaces can contact the Parks team on 01623 463510.
