A jobs fair in Mansfield is looking to connect jobseekers with employers directly by offering them the chance to put their CVs in the hands of recruiters.
Organised by Mansfield District Council, West Nottinghamshire College and the Department for Work and Pensions, the Mansfield Jobs and Careers Fair takes place on Wednesday 23 September at the Mansfield Library, Westgate.
With free entry, the event aims to help anyone searching for a job, whether currently employed or not, find a new employer or explore a career change.
Executive Mayor of Mansfield, Andy Abrahams, said: “This event is an innovative way for jobseekers to go directly to employers who are actively recruiting right now and make a great first impression.
“This event is for anyone looking for an opportunity. Whether you’re currently unemployed or whether you’re looking to take your career in a new direction, this is an ideal place to start your research, have some helpful conversations and get some advice. Bring your CV, an open mind and a positive attitude and this could be the most important career step you ever make.”
Emma Etches, learner and engagement manager at West Nottinghamshire College, said: "The team from the college will be there to offer advice on all courses such as apprenticeships, adult programmes and courses offered out in the community. We’ll be on hand to help people to discover how to get back into education or to retrain for a new career. Our HR team will also be there to showcase current vacancies at the college.
“Looking for a new job or thinking about changing career can sometimes feel daunting, particularly if you’ve been out of the workplace for a while or simply don’t know what your next step should be. Events like this take away some of those barriers by putting people and opportunities together in the same room.
"You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to do. Come along, have conversations, ask questions and find out what the college could do to help you turn a new page.”
Businesses from the Mansfield area are also being encouraged to attend to make new connections and find new employees at the event.
