People across Mansfield are being invited to play a central role in shaping the future of their communities as a major new regeneration programme moves into its next phase.

Mansfield District Council and Steve Yemm MP are now recruiting an independent Chair to lead the town’s new Neighbourhood Board as part of the Government-backed Pride in Place programme, bringing £20 million of investment into Mansfield over the next 10 years.

The programme will put local people at the heart of decision-making, giving communities a stronger voice in how funding is used to improve neighbourhoods and tackle the issues that matter most to them.

Residents, community groups and partners will be closely involved in shaping priorities, with a focus on:

  • building stronger communities

  • creating thriving places

  • enabling local people to take back control of their neighbourhoods

The recruitment of a Chair marks an important milestone, as work begins to establish the Neighbourhood Board that will guide the programme and help unlock long-term benefits for the town and the wider urban area of Mansfield.

The Chair will act as a champion for Mansfield, bringing people together, leading community engagement and ensuring decisions reflect the voices of local residents.

Elected Mayor of Mansfield, Andy Abrahams said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for people from Mansfield to take real control of its future. Pride in Place is about listening to our communities and investing in what matters most to them. We want people across the district to know that their voice will shape the decisions we make, and this is just the beginning of that journey.”

Steve Yemm, Member of Parliament for Mansfield, said:
“This £20 million, ten-year commitment shows the Labour Government is backing Mansfield for the long term. It gives us the opportunity to move beyond short-term fixes and deliver sustained investment that strengthens our local economy, revitalises neighbourhoods and improves everyday life.

“The new Chair will play a vital role in turning that ambition into action, building strong partnerships and making sure the programme delivers lasting, measurable benefits for people across Mansfield.” The position is a voluntary role, with reasonable expenses covered, and offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of Mansfield over the coming years.
