Mansfield is set to benefit from £20m of government funding thanks to a joint effort from Steve Yemm, MP for Mansfield, Mansfield District Council and partners across the town.

The Pride in Place Programme funding, announced by the Ministry for Homes, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) will go towards supporting a range of Mansfield communities and the town centre over the next 10 years.

In announcing the award, Miatta Fahnbulleh MP, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Devolution, Faith and Communities, said: “We particularly welcome your ongoing commitment to delivering the Pride in Place programme for the benefit of your communities.”

Steve Yemm, MP for Mansfield, said: “I am delighted at the news that Mansfield will benefit from the Pride in Place Programme. Local people know their area best. That’s why we’re asking them to be at the centre of deciding how this money is spent. The focus must now be on delivering meaningful change for our communities, and I am excited to see the development of the many wonderful projects this will fund.”

Executive Mayor of Mansfield, Andy Abrahams, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to support the many disadvantaged communities across the town with support to bring forward ideas to tackle issues at a neighbourhood and community level. We are going through a huge programme of change and transformation across Mansfield, and this enables us to extend that support to our communities and grow together. This is an exciting time for Mansfield.”

As part of the scheme, a new Neighbourhood Board will be set up to help make decisions about where funding will be allocated, with a community based Chair for the group to be appointed. Further news on progressing the programme will be shared over the next few months.

This funding is in addition to the £1.5m Pride in Place Impact Fund that Mansfield District Council secured in October 2025, where local groups were able to bid for funding to improve community and public spaces, high-street and town centre spaces, environmental projects, new public or community assets and more. Decisions on those applications will be coming very shortly.

The Government’s Pride in Place Programme will see up to £5 billion given to nearly 250 areas across the UK with the aim of restoring pride in the places people live.
