
More than 4,500 people from around the region, including over 700 runners, are expected to attend Mansfield 10k when it returns to the town centre on Sunday 14 September.
The race will start in West Gate at 9am and finish in the Market Place with spectator viewing spots at multiple points along the route. Road users are advised there will be road closures between 8.30am and 11am.
The course will include West Gate, Clumber Street, Leeming Street, Church Street, Midworth Street, Albert Street, St Peter’s Way, Chesterfield Road South, Westfield Lane, Ladybrook Lane, Rosemary Street, Wood Street, Union Street, Quaker Way, Walkden Street, and Stockwell Gate.
There will also be a 1km junior race starting at 10.30am in Market Place, with a circular route taking in West Gate, Clumber Street, Leeming Street and ending in Market Place.
The event is being organised by RunThrough for its second year in partnership with Mansfield District Council and will be raising money for the John Eastwood Hospice.
Cllr Andy Burgin, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Leisure, said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Mansfield 10k again.
“Not only will this event promote healthy physical activity, it will also be healthy for our town centre local economy with an expected 11% increase on average Sunday footfall.
“There will be a great vibe and something for all ages so why not come and make a day of it.”
The race will have helpers and pacers to keep participants on track and encouraging them on their way to that finish line. Participants with receive a unique themed medal, chip timed results, post race goodies and free official event photographs.
