
Mansfield is on the starting blocks for six months of free events between now and October.
As 5,000 visitors flocked to see the amazing Gaia art installation at the Palace Theatre, plans were being laid for Mansfield District Council’s next event in Mansfield Woodhouse Saturday 3 May.
Celebration in the Park at Yeoman Hill Park from 10am to 2pm will be a fun filled family event with live music from local artists including Ollie Hayes, Annabelle Elizabeth and Everything Acoustic, along with face painting, food stalls and ice cream. Bring the family, bring a picnic, and bring your best singing voice – it’s a day not to be missed!
Last Saturday Mansfield BID’s Chinese New Year celebration took place in the Market Place. To mark the year of the snake, youngsters were able to chalk their snake designs on the pavements, and Mansfield Aquatic Reptiles & Pets will be in the square with a display of live snakes. The celebration also featured performances by Fortitude Danceworks.
Later this month the focus will be on young people with a visit to the Market Place by architecture specialists, AirClad, along with Zest Theatre to create The Zone – a brand new, free to attend, touring youth facility provided by the council’s National Portfolio Organisation funding from Arts Council England.
Next month, on Saturday 21 June Mansfield Carnival, get ready for an unforgettable day of cultural celebration at the Mansfield Carnival, returning for its third year! This year’s theme, "One World," is all about global unity and the power of coming together as one community, as well as promoting environmental sustainability. From vibrant parades to eco-conscious choices, we’re celebrating both cultural diversity and our shared responsibility for the planet.
The town will be filled with colour and laughter from 12pm to 6pm on Leeming Street.

Brass band performances also return to the council’s parks with performances in June with a performance on Saturday 7 June, from 11am to 2pm in Carr Bank Park bandstand in Mansfield with Whitwell Brass Band; Saturday 5 July from 11am to 2pm in Titchfield Park in Mansfield with Blidworth Brass Band; and Tuesday 5 August from 11am to 2pm Carr Lane Park in Warsop.
In July we will be bringing more culture to our parks with the staging of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream by OddSocks Theatre on Sunday 13 July in Titchfield Park.
On Saturday 16 August the council will be organising a Picnic and Play event in Chesterfield Road Park. Pack your picnic and join us for a free, fun-filled family day out at Picnic and Play in the Park!
Enjoy face painting, arts and crafts, walkabout entertainers, and plenty of bubbles to keep the little ones smiling. It’s a relaxed and joyful day for all ages – don’t miss it!
In the autumn the main Destination Mansfield event will be the Fire Garden on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October when visitors to Titchfield Park will feel the heat from various displays of the power of fire.

The culture programme funded by the Arts Council and Towns Fund continue to provide opportunity for local people to get involved in high quality experiences on their doorstep”.

A week-long festival bringing diverse culture, creativity, and comedy to Mansfield. town centre from Monday 14 July.
Church Festival
Sun 13 July Church Festival is an opportunity for other churches to join together and hold an event for all. There will be some Christian music, from a live worship band, a professional children's entertainer, some information stalls, and someone giving a positive message of hope. Mini Police Fun Day
A free community event by Notts Police on Saturday 26 July in Carr Bank Park will see departments from across the force come together with information stalls and interactive activities. There will be police dog demonstrations, a chance to sit in the police car and rescue boat, and use a walkie talkie.
StagsFest
This family-friendly event at One Stadium Mansfield Town Football club on Saturday 26 July will include live music, a play area with inflatables and face-painting and the opportunity to meet club mascots Sammy & Sally The Stag.
Mansfield Town Show
This is an armed-forces recruitment led event taking place in the town centre on 26 and 27 July, more details to come.
Full Shebang
This free one-day arts festival organised by First Arts is open to everyone on Saturday 6 September in Mansfield town centre and will feature “knock-your-socks-off” performances, street theatre, workshops, live music and by acts from close to home and further afield.
Mansfield 10k
RunThrough events is bringing back the Mansfield 10k for its second year on Sunday 14 September, with the start and finish in the town centre. The course follows two laps of the town and surrounding area.
