Silent disco comes to Light Night

Mansfield Light Night, a spectacle of light and sound for all the family

Calling all disco divas, dance mat stars and dad dancers…

We’ve partnered with Canvas to bring their popular silent disco to the opening of Light Night on Saturday 10 February.

The silent disco is one of the main attractions coming to Light Night, at Carr Bank Park, next month and promises to give visitors a memorable evening under the stars in one of the towns flagship parks.

Headsets will be available to hire for a £5 refundable deposit from 4pm to 8pm on the Saturday evening.

Join the Canvas in-house DJs and dance along to R&B hits, cheesy pop, Disney show songs or tune in to Gamer FM where you can listen to the top hits from the most popular online gaming platforms.

Jono Edwards, Director at Canvas, said “When the council events team asked me to bring the silent disco to Light Night, how could I say no?

“It’ll be a first for Mansfield and something we can’t wait to be part of. The disco will be for everyone, but we’re really hoping this will appeal to older children too so they can enjoy the light night experience with their family and friends.

“We’d also like to say a huge thank you to Mansfield BID who will be putting up a gazebo to host the silent disco kit and provide a space undercover in case the weather isn’t dry. There’ll be a small, dedicated dance field too for those that want to be outside.”

Executive Mayor Andy Abrahams said: “Light Night is going to be a unique event for Mansfield and those visiting us from outside of the area. We think this event will have huge appeal and the addition of the silent disco brings a real fun factor to the opening night.

“This is one of many events funded by the Government and Arts Council England with aim of encouraging people to enjoy immersive experiences and increase participation in arts, culture, and events. These are important to our place shaping ambitions for Mansfield to be a place where everyone can make it in life.

“We’re so pleased to bring Light Night to Mansfield, and we hope that people get behind the event and enjoy all that Carr Bank has to offer.”

Light Night is a four-day event that starts on 10 February at 4pm. Each evening from 4pm to 8pm the park will host an illuminated experience for all the family to enjoy, including a lantern-style bandstand, a tranquil fairy lit tree canopy, enchanted forest area and a carnival sensory area.

Public parking will be available in the town centre pay and display surface car parks, and access to the park is on foot. Please wrap up warm and bring torches, glowsticks and headlights to help you navigate around the park as night falls. Accessible toilets will be available along with hot food and drinks to purchase.

Please see www.mansfield.gov.uk/whatson for more information and follow our social media feeds for more exciting announcements about Mansfield’s first Light Night.

This event is funded by the Government through the council’s Towns Fund allocation.
