Voters can find out about the five candidates hoping to secure their vote in the Mansfield Mayoral election on 4 May.

A 20-page booklet has been sent to every registered voter in the district - more than 80,000 people - giving details of the candidates.

The council has to produce this by law for each registered voter, which means that some homes will receive more than one copy. You can view the booklet online at www.mansfield.gov.uk/mayoralbooklet (opens in new window).

The leaflet contains information about the election, the role of the Mayor, the voting system, new Voter ID requirements, and how votes are counted. Each of the five candidates has provided information about themselves and their manifesto.

Adam Hill, Returning Officer and Chief Executive of Mansfield District Council, said: "I would encourage all electors to read through this booklet to understand more about the candidates and their policies. There is also vital information about bringing ID to vote, how to cast a vote in the Mayoral election, and how we count them."

Those who have chosen to vote by post should have started to receive their postal vote pack in the mail. People are urged to return their ballot papers as quickly as possible.

Anyone who loses, spoils or does not receive their postal vote pack should contact Mansfield District Council's Elections team at 01623 463345.

Replacement postal vote packs can be issued until 5pm on polling day, 4 May.
