People are invited to remember their lost loved ones by submitting images and writing messages ahead of a memorial service.

Mansfield Crematorium is hosting the Christmas Memorial Service on Saturday 10 December at 2PM, and it will be led by celebrant Katie Page.

During the event, families will be able to have images of their loved ones displayed and there will also be readings, carols, and music from Newstead Brass Band, Mansfield Male Voice Choir and vocalist Lauren Polimos.

There is also a memorial tree at the crematorium on Derby Road that people can visit at any time to add their tributes. The tree is now up and families can now come and write their messages, all of which will be displayed throughout December.

Councillor Andy Burgin, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Leisure at Mansfield District Council, said: "Christmas is not always a joyous time of year for some people in the district. I am pleased to see the memorial service will have pictures of families loved ones throughout the afternoon as well as our traditional annual Christmas tree for writing messages. With the music entertainment also included, I hope this event provides some comfort to families over the festive season.”

The Book of Remembrance will also be open at the crematorium on Christmas Day from 10am to 4pm. The crematorium grounds remain open throughout the Christmas and New Year period for members of the public to lay wreaths outside.

Mansfield Crematorium is managed and operated by a joint committee comprising representatives from Mansfield, Ashfield and Newark and Sherwood district councils.
