As part of Mansfield District Council’s commitment to modernising and improving the places where our tenants live, a programme of door replacement is underway.
The doors perform two really important functions; one is secure entry to the block of flats, so that only people who live there can get in, the other is for fire risk reduction measures which will improve the safety of living and communal areas within the flats.
We have invested heavily in ensuring that the doors are as user friendly as possible and provide a higher level of security for tenants. The door entry system is fob operated. The fob system works by replacing old-fashioned keys with a vandal-proof proximity reader. All a tenant needs to do is tap their key fob against the reader to gain entry.
As part of the upgrade to the doors, we will be contacting all residents that reside in blocks of flats to ensure that their contact details are up to date. We need to do this as the fob tenants are issued with is linked to their mobile phone number.
If you have any issues with fobs or phones please contact the Housing Management Officer for your area.
Timetable
We are currently installing doors at our three-storey blocks of flats, 41 blocks in total. The work on these blocks should be complete by mid-July.
There are 236 blocks with communal entrances, and work on two-storey blocks should commence by mid-July and be complete by March 2025.
