A brand new festival is coming to Mansfield town centre on 7 September thanks to First Art and Without Walls Touring Network Partnership.

Featuring a high-wire circus, a life-size interactive game zone based on classic arcade games, trampoline and acrobatics shows, music, dance and model making with the creatives behind Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, The Full Shebang Festival takes place on 7 September and will be open to everyone and free of charge (with a small cost for some workshop events).

First Art works in North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire to get more people to experience and shape extraordinary cultural events, through funding from Arts Council England, as part of the national Creative People and Places programme.

Dedicated performance space will be created in the town centre and popular venues, including Mansfield Museum, The Old Library and Four Seasons Shopping Centre will open their doors to host performances and workshops throughout the day. More details will be revealed closer to the date.

Karl Greenwood, First Arts Director, said:

Mansfield is a fabulous town and The Full Shebang will shine a light on just how great it is by animating the streets and local venues with world-class shows and activities.

We are working with wonderful partners to help us give local people plenty of opportunities to experience something completely different ranging from circus shows with puppets to a tea dance celebrating 100 years of dance.

We will, quite literally, be showing the full shebang of what the arts can offer and hope to attract people to experience their town in a new and unexpected way.

We plan to develop this festival with local people in the future so really want people to get down to town and support this event and, most importantly, have a great day.

Mansfield District Council is supporting The Full Shebang, providing venues and support to host the event in the heart of the town centre.

Executive Mayor of Mansfield Andy Abrahams said:

This is fantastic for Mansfield. We are really pleased to be working with First Art and Arts Council England investing in our town to create an event for the whole community to enjoy.

Events are an important part of our ambitions to develop the town centre and sense of place. I hope local people will get involved, come into Mansfield and enjoy what our town has to offer.

A full programme is available on The Full Shebang website (opens in new window) with updates on the council's Facebook page, @MyMansfieldUK.
