Meet Gaia—a breathtaking six-metre replica of Earth—presented right here at Mansfield Palace Theatre, suspended on our stage, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at the magic of backstage!
Created by renowned artist Luke Jerram, Gaia presents a unique and awe-inspiring perspective of our planet. The stunning sculpture showcases the Earth's continents and oceans, illuminated by subtle lighting that emphasizes both the beauty and fragility of our home. Standing beneath this giant, floating globe, you’ll feel a profound connection to the Earth, sparking reflection on our place in the universe.
Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind, immersive encounter with Jerram’s stunning artwork - the first time Gaia has ever been displayed in a theatre in Nottinghamshire.
In the Theatre foyer, don’t miss the thought-provoking film Overview Effect, which explores humanity’s shifting view of Earth from space.
Throughout the event, we’ll offer a range of exciting activities. During General Admission hours, take a seat in the balcony, put on a set of headphones, and enjoy immersive audio experiences. These soundscapes will enhance your connection to Gaia, taking you on an auditory journey that complements the visual spectacle.
