Business Improvement Districts (BID) influence local decision and take control of how their town reacts to changes. BID’s deliver a bespoke range of services and projects that businesses have identified are essential and tailored to ensure that they give themselves the best chance to trade as effectively as possible.
Mansfield BID has been operating as a company since 2010 and has to hold a renewal ballot every five years.
Businesses in the BID, including the council which has premises within the BID area, were asked to vote between 27 September and 24 October 2019 on whether to renew the organisation.
Ballot Papers were sent to those eligible to vote on Thursday 26 September 2019 and asked to be returned no later than 5pm on Thursday 24 October 2019 (the “day of the ballot”).
For a BID ballot to be successful there must be a majority of those voting in favour of the proposal, and those voting in favour must represent a majority of the aggregate rateable value of the hereditaments voting. Ballot papers were counted on Friday 25 October 2019 and with a majority vote, the Mansfield Business Improvement District was renewed.
