About Mayor Allsop

On 7 May 2015 Kate Allsop was elected as Mansfield's Executive Mayor. She is the second Executive Mayor of Mansfield following Tony Egginton's 12-year term.

Kate has been a political figurehead locally for more than 20 years. She started out as a ward councillor serving the residents of Oakham and Berry Hill Wards and in 2002 she joined the Cabinet as Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, where she remained until the recent Mayoral election.

During her time as Portfolio Holder, Kate has overseen projects including the Townscape Heritage Initiative, development of business incubation units, the Woodhouse Gateway project and more recently the new bus station and the development of Queen's Place.

She is patron of the Women in Business group and governor and vice chair of Vision West Nottinghamshire College. She is also the chair of a local patient participatory group at Forest Medical Practice.

Local criminals beware - Kate has been a local magistrate in Mansfield for six years and now sits on appeals at Nottingham Crown Court and also sits at Nottingham Magistrates' Court.

Kate lives in the Grange Farm ward with her husband Keith and their two Cavalier King Charles spaniels.

My aspirations for Mansfield

In these challenging times we should not forget all the good things about our country and especially our town. I gave a speech to the Full Council in May about my aspirations for Mansfield including plans for income generation, the new housing company and how we will continue to develop the town centre. Listen to my speech below.
