Bulky items

Before you contact us you may like to know that you can donate old furniture to a variety of charities such as The Furniture Project, The Salvation Army, and many others. Please contact us for further details.

Also if you have access to transport you can take your items to the local Household and Recycling Centres operated by Nottinghamshire County Council. Please note that some restrictions apply if using a van or trailer.

Alternatively, for a small charge we will collect bulky household items from your property.

Items we collect

We will collect a range of items from the front of your property including:

  • furniture
  • domestic appliances including fridge/freezers
  • bagged household rubbish (three regular sized black bags are equal to one bulky item)
  • large items that cannot fit into your bin eg sofas.

Items will be collected within 10 working days of payment being made. However, please note that once you have paid for collection we don't offer a refund and you can't add additional items to the same collection.

There are some items that we cannot collect, such as:

  • glass windows/panels
  • any object bigger than six foot
  • tyres
  • engine parts
  • building waste such as rubble
  • garden waste (a separate garden waste service is available for £30 per year).

If you decide to use this service the items for collection must be left outside your property in an easily accessible place. Once you have made payment the items will need to be outside for 6.30am the following day and collection will be made within 10 working days from the date of payment. We are unable to specify a date when the collection will be made as this is dependent upon staff and vehicle availability.

How much does it cost?

Where in the past a single charge has applied for up to 3 items, these items will now be charged at £10.00 for per item; however we will only charge £20.00 for the first 3 items.

Each additional item thereafter would be £10 per item.

Cost Example (any more than 6 items would require an inspection)

  • 1 item = £10
  • 2/3 items = £20
  • 4 items = £30
  • 5 items = £40
  • 6 items = £50

There are limits to the number of items we will take in any one collection. Please contact us for further information.

Certain waste electrical items including fridges, freezers, televisions, microwaves and computer monitors need to be disposed of under WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment)  regulations and are charged separately at £15 each.
