Learning and Aspiration

Welcome

There is nothing we love more than welcoming children to our theatre and museum. Seeing them come to life, and creating those jaw dropping, lightbulb 'wow' moments is what it is all about.

We continue to work hard to put together a flexible programme of workshops which can be delivered live in your school, in the museum / theatre or online.

We offer a full range of creative, physical and educational work. All workshops are designed with Arts Award in mind. Please get in touch if you'd like more information or wish to deliver Artsmark / Arts Award in your school.

All workshops on our website are suitable for all children, including those with English as a second language, additional needs or disabilities. We're thrilled to present these activities to inspire positivity and aid the imagination of your students.

Please let us know if we can do anything at all to make your experience with us as wonderful as possible. We look forward to hearing from you.

Loan Boxes

Our loan boxes bring objects from the past into your classroom, inspiring children's imagination as part of a project. Whether based in a classroom, or as a way of supporting work around a museum visit, they are great at helping children develop enquiry skills and creative learning.

Each offers a variety of objects that help children engage with, and understand, the curriculum topic through authentic replicas, photos and original items.

Visits becoming tricky?

If you are coming to us for a performance or workshop, we are delighted to welcome Freeway Coaches as our preferred supplier. Please contact Freeway Coaches direct on 01773 811711 and quote that you are working with us.

Work Experience

We offer a wide range of work experience opportunities within all areas of the museum. If you have a particular area of interest, we'd love to hear from you.

Mansfield Museum is committed to offering a wide range of work experience opportunities which give a real insight into a career within museums as well as providing opportunities to gain knowledge and skills. Our work experience placements off young people the opportunity to spend time working accross a variety of departments, to gain a broad insight into different types of careers in the arts and heritage sector.

Spend one or two weeks away from the classroom learning about a specific job or area of museum work. You could help re-box and photograph a collection, help plan an exhibition, work alongside our Education Officer to deliver educational workshops, or repair and conserve gallery displays.
