Schools Programme

Our Schools Workshop Programme at Mansfield Museum offers a range of educational sessions designed to enrich learning for students of all ages. Our programme features hands-on activities, interactive exhibits, and customized workshops that align with the national curriculum. Covering subjects such as history, science, and art, we provide students with a dynamic and immersive educational experience. Our workshops aim to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity, making learning both enjoyable and impactful.

There is nothing we love more than welcoming children to our theatre and museum. Seeing them come to life, and creating those jaw dropping, lightbulb 'wow' moments is what it is all about.

We offer a full range of creative, physical and educational work. All workshops are designed with Arts Award in mind. Please get in touch if you'd like more information or wish to deliver Artsmark / Arts Award in your school.

All workshops on our website are suitable for all children, including those with English as a second language, additional needs or disabilities. We're thrilled to present these activities to inspire positivity and aid the imagination of your students.

Home education

Home Education

We understand that not all education takes place within a school setting and offer hands-on, fun and practical workshops for those children who are home educated. We run regular sessions at the museum linked to a particular theme, for various abilities including those with additional needs or disabilities. Sessions will take place in person at the museum; places are limited so please chat to us for more information and to book early.

Loan Boxes

Our loan boxes bring objects from the past into your classroom, inspiring children's imagination as part of a project. Whether based in a classroom, or as a way of supporting work around a museum visit, they are great at helping children develop enquiry skills and creative learning.

Each offers a variety of objects that help children engage with, and understand, the curriculum topic through authentic replicas, photos and original items.

Our loans boxes are available to collect from Mansfield Museum and cost £40 for a two-week loan.

We currently have the following loans boxes available to borrow:

  • It Runs Through Us - a Windrush loans box
  • Mansfield Makers: Industries of the past shaping our future
  • Technology Marvels of yesteryear
  • Rediscovering Mansfield - a look at Mansfield's past
