Family fun at Mansfield Museum this half term
Looking for things to do with the family this October half term? Mansfield Museum has a whole fortnight of creative activities, live entertainment and Halloween fun planned for children and families.
From stepping into Wonderland and enjoying live music to making monster masks, prehistoric creatures, spaceships and spooky light jars, there’s plenty to get involved with.
And with lots of the activities free, you can enjoy a fun-filled half term without breaking the bank.
Tuesday 20 October – Wonderland
Step into Wonderland with Theatrix Arts and join the Hatter as Alice’s adventure comes to life through puppets, music and storytelling.
There will be shows at 11am and 2pm, followed by a 30-minute puppet-making workshop where children can create their very own puppet.
£6 per person.
Wednesday 21 October – Monster Mask Making
Let your imagination run wild and create your very own monster mask.
Will your monster have enormous ears, big teeth, lots of eyes – or something completely unexpected?
10am–1pm | FREE
Thursday 22 October – Pine Cone Animal Craft
Turn a simple pine cone into a fantastic woodland creature.
Make a hedgehog, owl, squirrel or invent your own animal creation to take home.
10am–1pm | FREE
Friday 23 October – Beanbag Music Club: Spooky Stories
Get into the Halloween spirit with a musical adventure for young children and their families.
Enjoy spooky stories, live music, Halloween favourites and plenty of opportunities to join in.
Shows at 11am and 1pm.
£5 per person.
Tuesday 27 October – Ice Age Paper Craft
Travel back to the Ice Age and create your own prehistoric creature.
Will you make a woolly mammoth, polar bear or sabre-toothed surprise?
10am–1pm | FREE
Wednesday 28 October – Space Ships on Lolly Sticks
Blast off into a world of creativity and build your very own spaceship using lolly sticks.
Where will your spaceship go? The Moon, a distant planet or somewhere completely out of this world?
10am–1pm | FREE
Friday 30 October – Halloween Light Jars
Get ready for Halloween by making your own spooky glowing light jar.
Decorate it with ghosts, pumpkins, creepy creatures or anything else your imagination can dream up.
10am–1pm | FREE
Saturday 31 October – Halloween Trading Card Event
Finish October with a spooktacular day of trading, collecting and card-filled fun.
Bring along your cards to buy, sell, swap and trade, with Pokémon, football, K-pop, anime, Disney and more.
There’ll also be Halloween crafts and trick-or-treat giveaways.
