Young audiences are invited to embark on lively adventures filled with fun and creativity this October half term at our Children’s Festival at Mansfield Museum.

Don’t miss out on our exciting, interactive experiences designed to inspire and entertain children of all ages.

Toot! A magical musical adventure comes to Mansfield Museum on Tuesday 22 October. In this thrilling 40-minute family concert, five playful musicians set off on an unforgettable journey through music and make-believe, with a little help from a magical dressing-up box! Hike through enchanted forests, explore mysterious caves, and soar to the moon in a homemade rocket! Perfect for kids ages 6-11, this action-packed concert brings the stage to life with creativity, imagination, and plenty of surprises.

Little explorers are invited to become Curious Investigators on Wednesday 23 October. Scribble and Clipboard have a job to do: sort the recycling. But Scribble keeps finding new things to investigate. When she discovers a mysterious egg hidden in the rubbish, the pair need the audience’s help to rescue an unborn chick. Can we save a mysterious egg from a smashing? And what will we discover along the way? Performances are at 10.30am and 2pm with tickets £5 per person and under 2s free.

Join us for a free craft session on Thursday 24 October from 10am to 1pm, where you can create your very own paper plate hedgehog. This fun and easy activity is perfect for all ages, and all materials will be provided.

Bookings are now open for our Autumn Lantern Workshops on Friday 25 October. Join us to transform glass jars into beautiful autumn lanterns, allowing you to explore your artistic side while celebrating the season’s vibrant colours. All materials will be provided, and children must be accompanied by an adult. One hour sessions will run at 10.30am, 12pm and 1.30pm for just £3.50 per child.

Everyone is invited to a fun and free creative workshop on Friday 25 October from 10am to 3pm with our My Mansfield Mosaic workshop. Help us finish a giant community mosaic designed by a local student, while focusing on sustainability and reusing paper products.

Pumpkin Carving is back by popular demand on Tuesday 29 October! Advanced booking is advised for the sessions at 10am, 11.30am and 1pm which cost £5 per child. All materials will be provided and you can take your creation home when its done. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Join us for a free craft session on Wednesday 30 October between 10am and 1pm, where you can create your very own Halloween mask! All materials are provided and you’ll get to unleash your creativity in a fun, hands-on environment. Perfect for all ages, bring your imagination and leave with a spooky mask to take home. No booking required, just turn up on the day.

Join us for ghostly games and stories on Thursday 31 October. We are running a one hour session at 10am for ages 5 to 8, which costs £3.50 per child. Plus a session at 11.30am for ages 9+ which lasts 90 minutes and is £4 per child. Parents are welcome to stay and join in the fun, but it’s not required as children can participate independently. Get ready for a thrilling time full of eerie stories and activities; advance booking online is required.

We finish our half term activities with Diwali Lantern making on Friday 1 November from 10am to 1pm. The event is free with donations always welcomed. Celebrate the festival of lights by creating your own colourful lanterns to brighten up your home. All materials will be provided and this fun activity is perfect for all ages. No booking required.
