Buxton Watercolour Stories

Over the next two months we're gathering memories and stories connected to buildings and locations that feature in the Museum's Buxton watercolour collection.

These will be audio recorded and made available to listen to in the Buxton gallery, allowing the paintings to come to life through the voices of Mansfield residents.

There are over one hundred paintings in the collection, so there's plenty to talk about, but we're starting with these which show the Town Square, Church Street, the Black Swan and neighbouring buildings, the old Nags Head on Westgate (which became Clarks - note the horse head reliefs on the facade of the building), and  Field Mill, Water Meadows.

If you have any stories or memories of the locations in the pictures - maybe from parents or grandparents, although they might also be of things that have happened very recently - then we'd love to hear for you.  You can contact us at 01623 , or email Andy Barrett, who is gathering the stories for us at andy.barrett@nottingham.ac.uk
