The Summer holidays are coming and we have something to entertain children of all ages and abilities here at Mansfield Museum – whatever the weather!
Best of all, it’s free, so come and join the fun, we can’t wait to see you soon.
We’re so excited about our flagship Summer exhibition, brought to you with thanks to Arts Council funding. Elmer and Friends: The Colourful World of David McKee celebrates over 30 years of Elmer the Patchwork Elephant. Join us from 15 July to 20 August for this interactive and very colourful exhibition, which includes artwork and manuscripts from the popular children’s books.
Starting on 26 July, we have daily Art Beat! sessions between 10am and 12pm every Tuesday to Friday, as well as exciting events and exhibitions for you to come along, see, and get involved in. Bring all your favourite little people along to get crafty with us – from designing and making Elmer ears, garlands and masks to lollipop stick crafts and circus style ring toss games and juggling balls, we’ve got something to excite all ages this July and August at our Leeming Street home.
Our ever-popular Lego days return by popular demand on Friday 4 and 18 August, as well as 1 September. There are also relaxed Elmer themed storytelling sessions on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 17 August, plus our Toys and Board Games days on Fridays 28 July, 11 and 25 August. See the full schedule below.
Opening on Tuesday 22 August (and here until Saturday 19 September), Thingamabobas is a playful, sensory experience where participants meet and interact with a circus troupe of mechanical robots, created to inspire, delight and intrigue you. Again, we want to shout our appreciation for Arts Council funding from the rooftops, as it allows us to bring innovative and interactive new touring exhibitions to residents of Mansfield and surround areas, at no cost to you.
You’ll find us in a different location on Thursday 3 August as we are taking part in the council’s annual Summer Festival. Come and say hi to us on Titchfield Park between 11am and 4pm and do some fun crafts and games with us – just look for the Cultural Services gazebo!
There’s no need to book for any of our events so let us take the stress out of keeping everyone entertained and engaged this Summer. Everyone’s welcome at Mansfield Museum so just turn up and leave the rest to us!
