What is the 0410 Collective?

The 0410 Collective is Mansfield Museum and Palace Theatres flagship visual arts collective for Young Artists and Creatives aged 16 to 25. Lead by the Learning and Aspirations Team at the Museum and Theatre the curated programme is designed to support its members to grow and develop as young and early career artists.

Who can apply?

Anyone with an interest in visual arts aged 16 to 25 is welcome! We’re open to all visual art forms. We encourage applications from:

Artists based within Mansfield

Artists with working Class backgrounds

Disabled artists

LGBTQ+ Artists

Neurodivergent Artists

Artists from minority groups

People from outside of traditional arts practice or education.

What’s the commitment?

The project will run for 12 months from the start of September 2026 until August 2027. Sessions will take place on Wednesday evening, normally 6pm to 8pm at the Palace or Museum. Sessions will be weekly for the first couple of months while we get started, then move to every two weeks later in the programme. There will be times of co-collaboration and artist shadowing so members will be expected to attend all these sessions to get the most out of them.

Later in the programme there will be opportunity to secure a micro-commission in response to a chosen theme. The completed work will then become part of Mansfield Museums Collection and feature in a pop up exhibition.

What will I be doing?

In the 0410 Collective, you’ll be working alongside a group of other young people to respond to the work and topics going on throughout the organisation. Over the 12 months you’ll also work develop your creative and practical skills with support from established artists, producers and other industry professionals.

I’m not sure I’m an artist can I still apply?

Absolutely! Everyone’s welcome in the 0410 collective, whether you’ve just finished Uni or College, just about to start or even if you haven’t got a traditional arts background we want to hear from you!

I’m not sure what visual arts are, or if my artform is right?

Visual Arts can sound a bit intimidating but it’s just the blanket term for a huge field of art forms that are primarily designed to be enjoyed by sight (although the other senses can play a big part in visual arts). It would be impossible to list every visual artform here because there’s so many however a list of some examples can be found here (opens external page)

Theres no such thing as a right or wrong artform, if it feels like you that’s what counts! Considering the wide range of artforms within the visual arts field we’re sure yours will be a perfect fit for 4010.

What if I’m still a little nervous about applying?

That’s ok, these things can be a big deal to lots of people and nerves are natural! When you apply your submission will go straight to our Learning team’s inbox and only be reviewed by Dom (0410 Producer) and Stacey (Learning and Aspiration Team Manager). We won’t share your work with anyone else, and it won’t be marked and graded. We’re not looking for the ‘best artist’ (because that doesn’t exist), we’re looking for young people who demonstrate a strong drive and love of the arts and their artform.

Still a little unsure? Drop us an email at learning@mansfield.gov.uk and we’ll be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

Ok…I’m ready to apply!
