We have many opportunities available for volunteers within our museum
Volunteers are given the opportunity to share their knowledge and enthusiasm through a variety of roles within the day to day running of the museum. They may be involved in helping with the delivery of education workshops, they might help the public enjoy the collection in numerous ways or support with behind-the-scenes activities in almost every department. And that's just the start.
Every volunteer offers invaluable support to the Museum, and they get something back from it too.

The roles we offer.
Outreach volunteer: Working with groups of adults in the museum delivering our in house events such as reminiscence tea room, games and sanctuary cafe and our make a start sessions. You would need good communication skills and be confident speaking to new people. The role includes serving refreshments and the setting up and packing away of the event.
Collections Volunteer: We have several roles available that involve supporting the work with our collection. These include archive photography, document scanning and cataloguing. You would need to be computer literate with a high level of accuracy and be able to work on your own innative.
Exhibitions volunteer: Our temporary exhibitions usually change every six to eight weeks and having support to ensure a swift removal and install is essential. You would need to have good communication skills, be physically fit and be willing to get your hands dirty.
You may want to volunteer for a long period of time, or even a fixed amount of time. That's fine, our range of volunteer opportunities all have different levels of commitment and flexibility.
