Paint, Paws & Mansfield

Paint, Paws & Mansfield

Bring your dog and get creative! Use a historic Mansfield scene by Albert Buxton as the starting point for a watercolour, then add your dog to create a unique picture together.

Bring your best friend and create a piece of Mansfield history together!

What could be better than spending some creative time with your four-legged friend?

You'll start with a printed line drawing based on one of Albert Buxton's historic paintings of Mansfield from the late 1800s, printed onto watercolour paper. Then it's over to you and your pooch to bring it to life.

Use watercolours to recreate the historic scene, but make it your own by adding your dog into the picture. Perhaps they're exploring an old Mansfield street, sitting outside a historic building or simply enjoying the scene with you. You can add whatever you like to create a picture that is personal to you and your dog.

It's a chance to look at Mansfield's past, get creative and make something together with your best friend — with no artistic experience needed.

You'll take your finished artwork home, creating a unique keepsake of you, your dog and Mansfield.

Bringing your dog

We want everyone — two-legged and four-legged — to have a comfortable and enjoyable evening, so there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times while in the museum.
  • Please only bring well-behaved dogs who are comfortable being around other people and dogs.
  • You may want to bring a blanket or mat for your dog to settle on while you paint.
  • Water will be provided for the dogs.
  • Please keep an eye on your dog throughout the session and make sure they are not disturbing other participants or their dogs.
  • Any accidents or mess must be cleaned up immediately. Please bring your own poo bags just in case!
  • Please be mindful that some people may be nervous around dogs, so give other visitors plenty of space.
  • If your dog becomes unsettled, distressed or disruptive during the session, we may ask you to take a break outside or, if necessary, leave the event.

We want this to be a relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone, so please use your judgement about whether your dog will enjoy spending an evening at the museum with other dogs and people.
