The Peasants (2023) Join Kino Koło Notts for their ‘On the Road’ programme, bringing the best of Central and Eastern European cinema to the East Midlands

Kino Koło Notts are working in partnership with Mansfield Musuem to present The Peasants as part of their On the Road programme

The Peasants tells the story of Jagna, a young woman determined to forge her own path within the confines of a late 19th century Polish village. When Jagna finds herself caught between the conflicting desires of the village’s richest farmer, his eldest son, and other leading men of the community, her resistance puts her on a tragic collision course with the community around her. Based on the Władysław Reymont novel of the same name, this classic of Polish literature is brought vividily to life in stop motion animation, each frame hand painted in oil.
