Support slot up for grabs at Mansfield Palace Theatre’s Harry Styles tribute night this June...
Local performers are being given the chance to shine this summer as Mansfield Palace Theatre launches a special call-out for artists to open The Harry Styles Show on Friday 5 June. Tickets for the show are already selling fast and this is a fantastic opportunity for local talent to shine on the big stage and be part of an unforgettable evening at Mansfield Palace Theatre.
In a celebration of homegrown creativity, the theatre is inviting talented local artists aged between 16 and 25 to apply for the opportunity to perform as the opening act before the main show takes to the stage. Solo singers and acoustic artists are being offered a unique chance to step into the spotlight and showcase their original talent in front of a live theatre audience.
The concept was created by Sean McNicholas who is performing as Harry Styles on the Leeming Street stage. He told us:
“As an artist, all you need is that one opportunity or lucky break - someone to spot your potential and give you a platform to share your talent with your family, friends and beyond. I am excited and proud to be able to do that on the biggest local stage as part of my theatre show at Mansfield Palace Theatre in June”.
Christopher Neil, Cultural Services Manager at Mansfield District Council added:
“This exciting initiative aims to champion local performers and provide a platform for emerging artists to gain valuable live experience at one of the region’s leading venues”.
Artists interested in being part of this fantastic night of music can submit an expression of interest HERE (opens in new window) until Friday 1 May, including a performance video or link to where their music can be viewed online.
Applicants must have between 10 and 15 minutes’ worth of original material and / or unique cover versions in order to open the show, and be free on the evening of Friday 5 June to travel to and perform at Mansfield Palace Theatre. As an added bonus, the winner will also receive 3 hours’ worth of time in the Electric Bear recording studios on Goodacre Street in Mansfield. The winner will be announced across the venue and artists’ social media channels by mid-May. Strictly no Harry Styles or One Direction songs please!
This is a rare opportunity for local artists to perform on a professional theatre stage and connect with new audiences. Don’t miss your chance to step into the spotlight and be part of an unforgettable night of live music this June.
