“Lose yourself in this dance-circus show whose dizzying performers cast gravity aside” - The Guardian
Motionhouse are a world-renowned dance-circus company and we are so excited to have them coming to Mansfield Palace Theatre on Tuesday 15 October with Three; their triple-bill of powerful pieces which will make your jaw drop in astonishment.
The show promises to impressive you with the endless ways the dancers glide off and climb on each other’s bodies: each thigh, shoulder, hand, another rung of their climbing frame. It’s impossible to look away. There is no sense that the men carry the women; everyone here is weightless, everyone can lift a house. It really does have to be seen to be believed.
Motionhouse’s dance-circus shows combine spectacular strength and elegance. Created and directed by Kevin Finnan whose credits include the Paralympics ceremony for London 2012, join us for an evening to lose yourself in this dance-circus show whose dizzying performers cast gravity aside.
Three is all about Human connections, the glue that holds us together, our innate need to strive but also to save and protect each other. Three celebrates our human instinct to explore and discover, finding strength together. Three celebrates human endeavour…
In Knot, two male dancers explore the vulnerabilities and power of male relationships.
In Gravity, a sense of isolation underlies the haunting choreography as two performers explore the loneliness of space.
Following an interval, the triple bill concludes with the gravity-defying choreography of Rescue. Adapted from our hit full length production Nobody, Rescue sees the full company move together in a symphony of strength, support and tenderness. The dancers lift, throw and catch each other with immense precision. Their extraordinary skill and mutual trust, make Rescue compelling and emotional to watch.
We are excited to be able to offer ‘tickets for a tenner’ for this mesmerising evening when quoting code ‘somethingnew’ online or to Box Office in person or on the ‘phone at 01623 463133.
A company spokesperson told us:
“In everything we do we want to engage with people from all cultures and identities, and of all ages, including people who are underrepresented in the world of dance, circus and outdoor arts. This includes but is not limited to those from working class and ethnically diverse backgrounds, or who experience racism, people who are neurodivergent, people who are disabled and people from the LGBTQIA+ community. Inspiring the next generation of children and young people from all backgrounds across the UK has been part of our ethos since the beginning. We want to play our part in creating a better society, now, and for future generations”.
