You've wrapped up school or college, summer is winding down, and you might be facing the daunting question: what’s next for me?
In school, many choices were made for you—where to sit, what to wear, and when to take breaks. Now that you’re stepping into the adult world, it’s both thrilling and challenging, especially with a new skill that’s vital for the workplace: making decisions.
But don’t worry. We’ve got six opportunities to help you navigate this new phase and find your path.
The Story of Change
13 to 19 | Free to take part
Perfect for young people who haven’t had an easy start in life. We’re on the look-out for young people who want to make a fresh start, and do something positive for themselves, particularly ex-offenders. It’s an opportunity to share their stories and reflect on life changes using creative media like film-making, animation or creative writing. Referrals are open for one-on-one and group support.
Technical Academy
13 to 19 | £18.25 a month | Bursaries available.
Hands-on training in theatre production for young people, offering experience in lighting, sound, and stage management. It’s a welcoming group, no experience necessary and we provide all the kit and support. Perfect for practical hands on young people.
Chapter 4
18-30 | £18.25 a month | Bursaries available
For creative young people interested in acting, writing, directing. Chapter 4 gives young people a voice in a space that is nurturing and inclusive. The sessions captures the imagination and explores feelings, behaviours and attitudes.
Long-Term Volunteering
16+
Opportunities at Mansfield Palace Theatre and Museum, including roles in front-of-house, visitor services, educational support, and exhibit preparation.
Future Movement
16-19 | Free to take part
A dance program in partnership with Rambert, offering young people the chance to explore careers in the creative industries alongside partners in Lambeth, Liverpool and Rochdale for.
Nature Power
18+ | Free to take part
A welcoming and nurturing group which uses nature and art to support mental health, particularly for survivors of domestic abuse, hosted at Mansfield Museum and Carr Bank Park. This initiative aims to foster connection with nature and creativity as a means of healing. 18+ free to take part.
