Born in 1914 and growing up in the small Cotswold Village of Slad, Laurie Lee, takes us on a journey in a time of change, when the rural traditions of the past centuries were being swept aside by twentieth-century progress and he begin his own journey of childhood to sexual awakenings; as the colourful and interesting characters and events of the village are brought to life. The gossip of the village, the silence of the villagers to the outside world is all revealed as Lee evokes memories of a time long gone, with great imagination, humour and fondness for his Mother and siblings. With comedy, music and song, the ensemble cast will bring Lee’s Gloucestershire village and eccentric and quirky characters to life on the stage.
