Oak Tree Leisure Centre has teamed up with Mansfield Museum to help launch an exciting new exhibit.

“Football: The Beautiful Game” will be available to view at the Mansfield Museum on Leeming Street from 2nd April – 1st June – but residents will be allowed a sneak peek during a football fun day at Oak Tree Leisure Centre on Saturday 9th March.

Running from 9am until 3pm, the community are invited to take part in free football sessions at Oak Tree Leisure Centre, whilst also sampling the exhibit. There will be snippets from the oral history of East Midlands football film - made with the help of local fans, whilst there will be a ‘design your own Match Attax’ activity, allowing younger football fans to take a memento from the occasion.

Kirsty Sanders is the Museum Development Officer at Mansfield Museum, she says: “This exhibit will allow you to delve into the world of local grassroots football.

“You can immerse yourself in the personal recollections of individuals, flick through captivating photo books, marvel at cherished memorabilia, and absorb information from an informative display board that brings the rich tapestry of local football history to life.”

Carolyn Hallam, Health and Wellbeing Manager for the MORE Leisure Community Trust said: “We’re delighted to be working with Mansfield Museum to help bring the rich history of our local football clubs to life.

“We understand how important football is to the local area, so with our 4G pitch at Oak Tree Leisure Centre, we knew this would be the perfect place to host a launch event for the Football: The Beautiful Game exhibit.

“We hope as many people as possible can join us on the day to take a look at the brilliant memorabilia, but also to get involved with our football activities.”
