By-election for Oak Tree ward

A by-election is being held on Thursday 15 September for the Oak Tree ward of Mansfield District Council following the death of Councillor Vaughan Hopewell.

Candidates

The candidates for this election are:

  • Gemma Canlin (Mansfield Independents)
  • Paul Nigel Henshaw (Labour Party)
  • Neil Paul Smith (The Conservative Party)
  • Julie Margaret Tasker (Freedom Alliance - Integrity, Society, Economy)
  • Milo Elijah Tooley-Okonkwo (Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition)

Voting

The deadlines for registering to vote, applications to vote by proxy and voting by post have now passed. 

All electors voting in person will vote at the Community Room, Oak Tree Leisure Centre, Mansfield NG18 3RT. The polling station will be open from 7am to 10pm.

Returning Officer for Mansfield Adam Hill said: "This Mansfield District Council by-election is being held following the death of Councillor Hopewell who was elected to represent the ward in May 2011."

Results

Gemma Canlin (Mansfield Independents) – 91 votes

Paul Henshaw (Labour) – 141 votes

Neil Smith (Conservative) – 45 votes

Julie Tasker (Freedom Alliance – Integrity, Society, Economy) – 15 votes

Milo Tooley-Okonkwo (Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition) – 8 votes

The turnout was 15.9%
