Mansfield Museum owns a relatively small but important collection of fine art including ceramics, pottery, paintings and jewellery dating from 1900s to the present day.
The paintings are hugely varied: portraits, landscapes, large-as-life epics and tiny miniatures. A whole range of styles is represented, in all manner of media. The paintings of Mansfield artist Wright Barker are accessible and easy to interpret with bold strokes, rich colours which bring to life universally appreciated and enjoyed subjects like the countryside, family and pets.
The Ceramics Collection displays works by celebrated influential painter of porcelain Mansfield’s William Billingsley show delicate skill in painting of flowers and small local landscapes, still recognisable today, onto porcelain.
