New Enterprise Programme

People with a new business idea are invited to attend free networking events and workshops aimed at developing skills, confidence and ability to turn that idea into a reality.

Networking events

The networking events provide an opportunity to meet like minded people in similar situations with a chance to share ideas, provide support and learn from each other.  Each network incorporates the opportunity to attend a free seminar centred on business development and are delivered by expert speakers.

The workshops which have been developed by the Ashfield and Mansfield Regeneration Service are delivered by expert speakers and trainers and are funded by the district councils.

The 3-day workshops are:

Sizing up the Market - Winning and Keeping Customers

This workshop will take participants through the market research process helping them to understand why it's so important.  It aims to help participants get to know their market and more importantly, to understand their competitors.  This module also explains where to get information and which techniques to use and demonstrates how to use the findings to make informed decisions.

Pricing for Profit

This workshop focuses on the important area of costing and pricing.  It helps participants identify the types of costs they may incur in their business, explains the different methods of pricing and gives guidance in setting prices for products and services.

Managing your Finances

This workshop looks at the key elements of running the money side of a business.  It introduces the basic financial statements, shows how a profit and loss account and balance sheet are put together and explains cash flow statements.  In short, it helps participants to understand enough of the detail to take control of their business.

The New Enterprise Mentoring Programme

This programme gives participants a chance to explore their ideas in complete confidence, providing a sounding board as well as support to develop the skills and knowledge needed to get a business off to a good start.

The next event is on Friday 20 September, 10am to 12.30pm at the Summit Centre.

Following events will be held on Monday 30 September, Monday 7 October and Monday 14 October.
