Fraud and risk

Whistleblowing

Whistleblowing is the process by which employees, agency workers or organisations contracted to the council can report any suspicions within the workplace.

We are committed to the highest possible standards of openness, honesty and accountability and we will not tolerate malpractice or wrongdoing. We have a zero tolerance approach towards fraud and corruption.

We encourage everyone to feel confident in raising any serious concerns they have about issues such as:

  • health and safety risks
  • environmental problems
  • fraud
  • theft
  • corruption
  • criminal offence or breach of a legal obligation, and
  • lack in the care of vulnerable people

Our whistleblowing policy provides the protection for individuals who make such disclosures and explains how these will be investigated.
