How and where to vote

Voting at a polling station

From May 2023, all electors will be required to take ID to vote in polling stations. A list of accepted ID can be found on the Voter ID page.

You can only vote during an election if you are registered, for further information please visit our register to vote page.

If you are registered to vote, then around four weeks before the election you will receive a poll card at your address telling you where to vote and the hours your polling station will be open.

You can find out more information about how to vote in elections by visiting the Electoral Commission website (opens in a new window).
