Are you all ready for the summer break? Mansfield District Council is preparing to kick-start the school holidays with the first of three summer festivals.
The first is on Wednesday 31 July from 10am to 3pm at King George V Park, off Black Scotch Lane, in the town and will be packed with fun, free entertainment for all the family.
Cllr Andy Burgin, Portfolio Holder Environment and Leisure, said:
Our festivals are the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with the family in our parks and take part in some fun activities. Bring your friends and family for a great day out - and don't forget, the dog can come, too!
Visitors can enjoy BMX and circus skills workshops, crazy golf, arts and craft activities, free goodie bags (whilst stocks last), face painting, pony rides, fitness games and sensory sessions for babies and toddlers.
There will also be White Post Farm animals to see and handle, giant garden games, Punch and Judy puppet shows, the new maypole jazz band, parachute games and live music from Wes Dolan, a local musician.
Representatives from various council departments including Environment Health, Leisure and Community Safety will also be available to answer questions and give advice and there will be information stands and quizzes to educate the community about topical issues.
The council's dog control team will also be on hand to offer advice on responsible dog ownership. The guide dogs and PDSA will also attend to provide extra support.
Most activities are free and there will also be food and drink stalls, including burgers, wood fired pizza as well as other lovely nibbles.
The second festival will be on Wednesday 14 August at Carr Lane Park, in Warsop, from 10am to 3pm.
The final festival is on Wednesday 28 August at Titchfield Park in Mansfield from 10am to 3pm.
Parking is limited at all of these parks, so please walk or use public transport if possible.
