"Ch Ch Ch Changes"
Saturday 3 March – Saturday 14 April 2012
For this new exhibition, East Midlands based artists will be responding to issues surrounding landscape, environmental and cultural changes in the Nottinghamshire area following the closure of mines and the re-use of former coalfield sites.
The socio-economic changes and implications of the closure of mining operations are still being felt today in all the communities surrounding collieries that have closed, and many an old miner has an interesting tale to tell.
Landscapes of former coalfields are changing rapidly – some sites have been turned into country parks, while others are being redeveloped as industrial and commercial sites, and some old pit villages are now deserted ghost-towns.
Events and workshops will be run throughout the exhibition workshops for children of all ages over half term
