In the course of their work, local authorities create lots of mapping data e.g. green belt land, tree preservation orders and planning data. If this data is held on an electronic map and falls under an Inspire category, then they are also required to publish the data.
INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) is a European directive that was brought into UK law in December 2009. It requires public organisations to make certain map based spatial environmental information available to discover, view and download.
The information is also available to discover and view through a national portal called data.gov.uk along with information from other organisations.
The metadata files show information about the data that has been made available. You can view or download these files on the Mansfield District Council page of the Data.gov.uk site.
The overlays will be available to view on our INSPIRE mapping viewer shortly.
The data is available for personal use and is subject to copyrights, which must be agreed to before downloading. Click here to proceed to the copyright and download area.
