What is the Local Plan?

How do I get involved in the Local Plan preparation process?
You can comment on our policies by using our Consulation Database. This takes you to a welcome page with current and recent consultation events. Formal comments can also be sent in by writing to: Planning Policy, Mansfield District Council, Civic Centre, Chesterfield Road South, Mansfield, Notts, NG19 7BH. Or email LP@Mansfield.gov.uk
What is the timetable for the preparation of the Local Plan?
The Local Development Scheme (LDS) provides a timetable, the existing LDS is under review and will be replaced.
What is the Development Plan?
The development plan is the document that planning decisions should be made in accordance with unless material considerations indicate otherwise. Currently it is the Saved Policies of the Mansfield District Local Plan (adopted 1998).
When the emerging Local Plan is adopted by the Council (following an Examination in Public by a Planning Inspector) this will replace the Saved Policies of the 1998 plan.
Do you provide Planning Guidance on specific subjects/sites?
Yes, the Council produce a number of Interim Interim Planning Guidance documents (IPG's) Currently IPG's have been produced on the following subjects:
- Community Safety by Design
- Extensions to Dwellings
- Recreation Provision
- Shopfront Design and Security
- Hermitage Mill
- Stockwell Gate North
- Affordable Housing
- Former Mansfield Brewery
- Stockwell Gate South
- Parking Standards for New Development (Draft)
- Green Infrastructure
- Raising Design Quality: New Residential Development (Draft)
